Like most pet owners I treasure my dog for the unconditional love he gives, not to mention the frenzied wiggle he greets me with each time I walk in the door. The reckless abandon with which he chases a ball gives me a taste of the freedom that I struggle to hold on to everyday, and his ability to completely focus on the task at hand is something I deeply envy. I love the way he can tell when I'm not feeling well. He'll lie by my side all day looking slightly guilty when he gives me the signal that he needs to go out. I love the inexplicable softness of his ears and the cold contours of his nose. But, what I love most about my Grady is that he serves as a constant reminder that life is about connections. There are few things more gratifying that seeing others interact with my dog and watching their bodies become relaxed, their minds become clear and the corners of their mouths turn north. The knowledge that I get to feel that every day makes those moments even sweeter.
